What an amazing year it’s been for Happy Hippie and as our Founder, Miley says, “This is just the beginning”! As we close 2015, here’s a look back on some of the highlights this year:
- January: Miley visits the Los Angeles LA LGBT Center to talk with local LGBTQ youth about their experiences dealing with issues including homelessness and HIV/AIDS. This visit would become the inspiration for our digital support groups for LGBTQ youth!
- February: Happy Hippie films our then top-secret launch project, Happy Hippie Presents: Backyard Sessions!
- March: Miley and Happy Hippie out on behalf of homeless LGBTQ youth in New York, helping to increase funding for shelter services
- April: Miley and Happy Hippie meet with Instagram to talk about ways to improve community safety on the platform
- May: Happy Hippie officially launches with Happy Hippie Presents: Backyard Sessions!
- June: Happy Hippie launches Happy Hippie Presents: #InstaPride, in partnership with Instagram and Miley receives amfAR's 2015 Award of Inspiration
- July: Happy Hippie launches new programming!
- August: Our Happy Hippie Presents: #InstaPride family introduces Miley's surprise performance at the 2015 MTV VMAs!
- September: Miley speaks out to protect wildlife in B.C. and fight against the wolf cull
- October: Happy Hippie celebrates LGBT History Month by having our amazing community share their stories
- November: Miley receives the LA LGBT Center's Vanguard Award and Happy Hippie expands its programs for LGBTQ youth and their families
- December: Happy Hippie Holidays at My Friend's Place brings extra love and cheer to local youth
